'Kung Fu Hustle' region 1 DVD announced

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just released information on the region 1 DVD of Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle. Consumers will have a choice between anamorphic widescreen and full screen DVDs, VHS, or the new UMD (Universal Media Disc) format for the PSP (Playstation Portable).

DVD bonus features will include deleted scenes, outtakes and bloopers, a behind-the-scenes featurette, audio commentary by Stephen Chow and cast members, a Ric Meyers interview with Stephen Chow, poster gallery, TV spots, and trailers. Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio tracks will be provided in Cantonese, English and French. Optional English and French subtitles and closed captioning will also be provided.

The UMD version will play on Sony's new Playstation Portable, a portable gaming device with a 4.3 inch widescreen TFT display that rivals the Playstation 2 in graphics power. The UMD is a 1.8GB optical disc that houses both games and movies. Over 70 movies are already available on UMD, including Sony's release of House of Flying Daggers, which has sold more than 100,000 copies to date.
